Red hat, black forest: The Black Forest Museum at Triberg, Germany In the early days they fascinated people and brought entertainment into houses, restaurants and dancehalls: Music boxes, Orchestrions and many other mechanical musical instruments have been innovative high-tech products made in the Black Forest for centuries. You are welcome to listen! With one of Europe’s largest collection the Black Forest Museum at Triberg shows and plays the evolution of mechanical instruments – from flute-clocks via barrel organs to Orchestrions and first record players. In addition, on over 1600 square meters, the Black Forest museum at Triberg introduces to you the Black Forest traditions, costumes, crafts and its enthusiasm for mechanics and engineering.

We are leading restorers of antique musical boxes of which a good selection are for sale in superb condition and playing well. An amazing assortment of self playing instruments found in the home before broadcasting started in 1924 is presented as a live entertainment in our museum. We are said to have “the best gift shop in the Cotswolds”.
